Nike pirmā izcilā bute — un tās ādas beigas

Tiempo Premier bija Nike pirmā nozīmīgā futbola bute, valkāta 1994. gada pasaules kausā ASV, augstākās klases ādas bute, kas padarīja līniju par komforta un bumbas sajūtas mājvietu gadu desmitiem. Šī ēra beidzās 2026. gadā: Tiempo Maestro nomainīja 'Legend' nosaukumu un pilnībā atteicās no dabīgās ķengurādas par labu sintētiskajam 'Techleather', noslēdzot nodaļu, ko Premier bija atvēris.

Tiempo — vēsture

1994
Tiempo Premier

The boot that fixed the Tiempo as Nike's leather control boot. A soft kangaroo-leather upper with a fold-over tongue and simple conical studs — no gimmicks, just touch and a broken-in feel, and it arrived around the 1994 World Cup in the United States. It is the Nike answer to the adidas Copa Mundial: comfort and a clean strike surface over speed, and every Tiempo since has chased the same "a boot you barely notice" idea.

In the 1990s Nike was the newcomer in football and known for bright, aggressive boots. The Tiempo Premier was the quiet one — proof Nike could make a plain, classic leather boot as good as the European names, and it became the base the whole line grew from.

Spēlēja: Romário, Eric Cantona and Ian Wright wore it, and almost half of Brazil's 1994 World Cup squad played in the Tiempo — the association that first sold the boot.

Tiempo Legend

The rename. Nike relaunched the leather Tiempo as the "Legend", keeping the kangaroo- leather upper for touch but modernising underneath — a mesh tongue for breathability and Zoom Air cushioning in the heel to soak up impact. It kept the soft-leather feel and made the boot more comfortable to play ninety minutes in.

Spēlēja: Ronaldinho was the face of the boot, and his input shaped the iconic R10 signature versions that followed.

Tiempo Legend II

A refinement more than a reinvention: the same kangaroo-leather upper on a slimmer tongue and a reworked heel for a more secure, locked-down fit. The kind of quiet, tidy update the Tiempo is built on.

Tiempo Legend III

Thinner, softer kangaroo leather over a split, dual-density outsole that let the boot bend more naturally with the foot. This is also the generation that spawned the first Tiempo "Elite" — a lighter version built for the 2010 World Cup with a carbon-fibre chassis and a part-synthetic upper, the first time the leather Tiempo borrowed from Nike's speed tech.

Tiempo Legend IV

Nike wove its Flywire cables into the midfoot — thin, strong threads that pull tight with the laces to lock the foot down without adding weight or stiff panels. The upper stayed kangaroo leather where you strike the ball, with tougher synthetic in the wear zones, so the classic touch survived on a lighter, more supportive boot.

Tiempo Legend V

A full redesign whose headline was Hypershield — a treatment that stops kangaroo leather from drinking up water. A leather boot's old weakness is that it soaks up rain and grows heavy; Hypershield kept the Legend V light and its leather soft in the wet, so the touch you get in training is the touch you get in a downpour.

Tiempo Legend VI

The Tiempo went tongueless. The upper became one seamless piece with the laces sitting on top, and an internal cage held the leather so it could not overstretch and lose its shape. Nike's All Conditions Control (ACC) coating kept grip on the ball consistent whether it was dry or soaking. It looked far more modern than any Tiempo before it while keeping the leather feel.

Spēlēja: Andrea Pirlo had a signature Legend VI "Pirlo Edition".

2017
Tiempo Legend VII

The first Tiempo to use Flyknit — Nike's knitted material — in the tongue and heel, giving a stretchy, sock-like fit around the ankle while the front of the boot stayed kangaroo leather for touch. A fitted mesh lining inside stopped the leather from stretching out over time. Old-school strike surface, new-school fit.

Tiempo Legend 8

Nike dropped the Roman numerals for plain numbers and rebuilt the inside of the boot around Quadfit mesh — a four-way stretch lining that moulds to different foot shapes so the leather grips without a break-in period. The forefoot got a raised, textured pattern to add friction and bite on the ball.

2021
Tiempo Legend 9

The lightest leather Tiempo up to that point, with a redesigned raised texture across the forefoot for a more precise touch and a new soleplate tuned for quicker changes of direction. It arrived as Nike was winding down kangaroo leather across its range, making it one of the last true k-leather flagships in the line.

2023
Tiempo Legend 10

The end of leather. For the first time in the line's history the Tiempo dropped kangaroo leather entirely and switched to FlyTouch Plus, an engineered synthetic built to feel close to leather while being lighter, stronger and far more water-resistant. A raised 3D texture across the forefoot did the grip job the soft leather used to do. A genuine turning point, and a controversial one for people who loved the old k-leather.

2026
Tiempo Maestro

A clean reset. After ten Legends Nike retired the name and launched the Tiempo Maestro, pitched at creative playmakers. Its upper is Techleather, a next-generation synthetic engineered to mimic the suppleness of kangaroo leather with more consistency and better wet-weather performance, over a split soleplate for flexibility and grip. A cheaper Ligera version sits below it. It confirms the direction the Legend 10 set: the touch of leather, without the leather.
